Independent electrical traction
Research in the field of electrical drives is focused on independent electrical traction. Attention is given to control methods for brush-less dc machines (mainly asynchronous and synchronous machines with permanent magnet) where maximum efficiency of the system converter + motor is achieved within the wide range of torque and running speed. This brings about the need of innovative approach to modelling of electrical machines and identification of the parameters of these models.
Diagnostics and reliability of industrial power systems
Research is also focused on diagnostics and reliability of industrial power systems. Mathematical methods for quantification of the parameters degradation in individual parts of power systems is studied on the basis of mathematical analyses of state variables of the regulation process, or based on the measurement and analyses of other power system characteristics. Attention is given to evaluation and prediction of observed parts failure.
